Why We Started ND Renegade

We started ND Renegade because we have two neurodivergent children whom we want to instil a sense of pride into.  Our daughter Boo is 8 years old, and she is diagnosed with ADHD, dyspraxia and a neurological speech disorder called cluttering.  Our son Bear is 6 years old, and he is diagnosed ASD.  He was diagnosed at 4 years and 2 months, and has been in various therapies for more than half of his life.  I know there is a huge uproar in the neurodivergent community about therapies and trying to eradicate autism, and I certainly don't want to  get political.  Bear has been in occupational therapy for servere sensory issues, I have seen a psychologist on his behalf, he has had further OT and behaviour therapy, to teach him how to play with his sister, and for issues of violence.  The best therapy we have ever done is equine therapy, and at this point, both kids are confident cantering around on a horse.

But I digress.  As I said, we started this business to show the kids it's cool to be neurocool!  We homeschool the kids, as they are just not the right fit for school (square pegs in round holes, anyone?).  We don't do traditional schooling, we are life learners.  The kids get to do what they want during the day, and both are very avid readers (both were hyperlexic).  Because of our educational methods, we thought it would be a good idea to lead by example.  We want to teach our kids how to run a business, one that is important to our family as a whole, and so ND Renegade was born.  Boo and Bear are as excited about this new venture as we are.
